Can you share more about your experience representing Croatia as Miss Croatia 2023 in Vietnam and Cambodia? What was the most memorable part of your journey?
My journey began when I applied to Miss Global. I discovered it through Instagram, learned more, and decided to apply. It was an incredible three weeks, filled with excitement. I met many new women from different countries and cultures. This was my first Miss Pageant, my first long flight, and my first time in Asia, far from home. It was also my first time in front of the camera, interacting with children and families who wanted to talk to me, take photos, and even get autographs. Experiencing all of this, which I had previously only seen in movies, was surreal. I cherished every moment and would do it all again. Throughout the journey, I became even more disciplined. However, I also experienced homesickness and would often call my family on FaceTime during my free time to share about my day. Seeing my family proud and happy brought me immense joy. While it was a beautiful experience, it was also challenging as the days were tightly scheduled, and punctuality and excellence were crucial to me. On the last day of rehearsals, I twisted my foot badly but pushed through the pain to continue, determined not to give up. Representing my country is an honor, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.
How has your background, being born in Bosnia-Herzegovina and moving to Germany at the age of 4, influenced your perspective on different cultures and languages, especially given your love for traveling and learning new languages?
I believe it’s in my genes, as my parents traveled extensively even when I was in my mother’s womb. I have lived in Bosnia, Sweden, and Germany, and I enjoy being exposed to different people, cultures, and cuisines. Traveling and learning new languages have always fascinated me, and I aspire to explore the world like my parents did.
As a nanny working in a daycare center, what motivates and inspires you the most about your job? Are there specific moments or interactions with the children that stand out to you?
I absolutely love my job. It all began with my first internship in daycare, which solidified my decision to pursue this profession. Every morning, I wake up with excitement and joy to go to work. Working with young children and their parents is incredibly rewarding. Watching the children grow, take their first steps, and express themselves for the first time is magical. I cherish the bonds formed with both the children and their families. Saying goodbye to the children when they move on to kindergarten or relocate is always difficult, but knowing that I’ve played a part in their development is immensely gratifying.
Being passionate about modeling since childhood, how did you first develop this interest, and how has it evolved over the years? How do you balance your modeling pursuits with your career as a nanny?
I’ve been fascinated by modeling since I was a child. My family often photographed me, and I enjoyed dressing up and posing for the camera. This love for modeling has grown over the years, and I now embrace it wholeheartedly. I am open to new experiences and have participated in modeling workshops and photo shoots. Balancing my modeling pursuits with my career as a nanny can be challenging, but I manage it by being organized and prioritizing my commitments.
You mentioned your love for Croatia, emphasizing its history, nature, and hospitality. If someone were to visit Croatia for the first time, what recommendations would you give them to fully experience the beauty and culture of your country?
Croatia holds a special place in my heart, and I am passionate about sharing its beauty with others. I highly recommend visiting the coastal town of Split, known for its beaches, historic charm, and cultural richness. The capital city of Zagreb offers vibrant nightlife and numerous attractions. Dubrovnik, often referred to as “The Pearl of the Adriatic,” boasts stunning architecture and picturesque landscapes. Additionally, the Plitvice Lakes National Park is a must-visit for nature lovers. Every season in Croatia has its unique charm, but I recommend visiting between June and August for warm weather and ideal beach conditions.
